WoW Forever · Experimental setup

Fury / Protection Warrior

Fury / Protection explores Fury damage talents while retaining a one-handed weapon and shield. Decide which defensive and threat tools remain in the actual allocation before treating the label as a complete tank setup. Attack-speed and damage windows do not remove the need to position enemies and answer the next dangerous hit.

Current beta play is capped at level 30. Level 60 reference models and deeper talents are identified as later planning. Client descriptions and server updates can differ.

What this build asks you to do

MythicSim publishes this as a future mixed-tree damage reference. Death Wish illustrates the essential tradeoff: its damage benefit also increases damage taken. A tank who uses it is choosing additional risk, not receiving a free defensive cooldown. The tank damage board is not a survival or threat ranking, and a stance change used in one model is not automatically appropriate for your dungeon pull.

  • The experiment tests a damage package alongside a shield.
  • Damage windows can increase incoming risk; mixed points give up deeper Protection tools.

Choose the next action

  • Begin with the shield and learned tanking tools. A mixed-tree label does not grant the deep talents omitted by its actual allocation.
  • Choose Death Wish only when the incoming damage and group control allow its increased-damage-taken trade. The damage gain is a risk decision rather than free tank mitigation.
  • Use the damage window while the enemy and usable contact justify it, retaining Rage for a needed control or defensive action.
  • The saved model deliberately changes to Berserker near the end. Inspect that conditional late-fight choice instead of applying the same stance change to every real tank pull.
  • Return to control or a learned defense when the pull becomes dangerous. A tank damage board does not evaluate whether that stance or cooldown choice was safe for your group.

Death Wish is a tanking risk decision

Click through an illustrative sequence. Conditional effects require the named spells and talents; this is not a damage, resource, threat or timing simulation.

  • Keep the shield setup: Begin with the actual shield and learned tanking tools; the hybrid label grants no missing spell.
  • Choose Death Wish: When learned, deliberately accept its increased-damage-taken tradeoff for the damage window.
  • Use the damage opportunity: Attack only while the pull and usable contact justify the risk; the scene does not calculate tank output.
  • Reassess incoming danger: Choose a learned defense or stop the risky sequence when necessary. Damage rankings do not make that decision for you.

    Understand the upgrade

A larger damage result does not establish sufficient health, mitigation or threat for the next pull.

Only learned Fury and Protection ranks apply; the build cannot include every deep talent from both trees.

These examples isolate attribute relationships. They are not a prediction of full ability DPS, threat, pet damage or survivability.

    Understand the upgrade
    Comparison Meaning
+7 Strength +14 baseline melee AP before modifiers. Using the declared ordinary weapon-tooltip model, that is +1 nominal weapon DPS.
A 3.5-second ordinary swing That AP contribution adds +3.5 nominal damage per swing before hit outcomes, mitigation and other effects.
+10 Agility About +0.962 percentage points of weapon crit at level 30; it is not a fixed conversion at every level.

    Questing and group play

Test the hybrid on controlled encounters after understanding ordinary Protection responsibilities. A party tank still needs to secure loose enemies and answer dangerous casts while evaluating a Fury damage window. For solo quests, a shield hybrid and a full damage allocation are separate equipment and recovery questions, not interchangeable reference labels.

    Choose useful equipment

Compare a usable one-handed weapon and shield with health, useful defense and the offensive stats supporting the learned Fury package. The 0/31/20 reference gives up deep Protection, so its damage result cannot prove a defensive upgrade or universal tank BiS.
