WoW Forever · Spell damage
Fire Mage
Fire combines cast damage, critical-hit interactions and burn effects. Begin with a spell that fits the pull, then react to the talents you actually have. Ignite follows qualifying Fire critical strikes; it is a conditional effect, not a promise that every Fireball leaves the same extra damage.
Current beta play is capped at level 30. Level 60 reference models and deeper talents are identified as later planning. Client descriptions and server updates can differ.
In this guide
What this build asks you to do
Heating Up links eligible non-periodic critical strikes to a shorter following Pyroblast cast. Improved Scorch is a separate vulnerability interaction. Read those states independently: a critical event, a vulnerability and a cast-time benefit are not interchangeable bonuses. Combustion is a deeper plan, while early Fire can already teach the difference between a planned opener and reacting to a proc.
- Crits can create useful follow-up states and burn pressure.
- Proc-dependent benefits are variable; cast positioning, threat and recovery still matter.

Choose the next action
- Choose an opener you can finish safely. A long Pyroblast opener and reacting to a prepared Pyroblast later are different decisions; a proc you do not yet have cannot shorten the first cast.
- Read Heating Up after an eligible critical event, then use its shorter Pyroblast where that cast is useful. The prepared state is consumed by the follow-up rather than remaining through the rest of the fight.
- Keep Ignite, Improved Scorch vulnerability and Heating Up separate. A critical hit can enable one interaction without proving every burn or vulnerability is at its ideal state.
- Use Scorch when the vulnerability setup is worth the casts and the target will live long enough. A short quest enemy can die before maintaining a full long-fight setup repays the mana.
- The future model reacts to specific active effects and mana thresholds. Its Hot Streak wording must not replace the current Heating Up description with an automatic instant-cast promise.

A conditional crit changes the Pyroblast choice
Click through an illustrative sequence. Conditional effects require the named spells and talents; this is not a damage, resource, threat or timing simulation.
- Cast an eligible spell: Use Fireball in this example; the next state requires an eligible non-periodic critical strike.
- Heating Up triggers: Show the conditional critical event granting a cast-time benefit, not a guaranteed proc on every cast.
- Choose Pyroblast: With Pyroblast learned, use its reduced cast time when the target and position justify the cast.
- Watch the remaining effects: A burn and a vulnerability have their own conditions; avoid treating their presence as an unlimited proc.

Build the toolkit
Heating Up is a current row-four talent choice; Combustion is deeper planning. Train useful damage ranks and control, while keeping a lower-cost finishing option when it actually reduces wasted mana. The full model assumes far more spells and points than an early character knows.
| Level | Decision or milestone | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| 20 | Pyroblast is an ordinary talent-row option. | Current beta |
| 25 | Heating Up and Improved Scorch become talent-row options. | Current beta |
| 40 | Combustion is deeper planning. | Later planning |

Understand the upgrade
Spell power changes spell output; crit can also enable named Fire talents. Their relative value needs your actual spells and encounter.
Compare the complete fight and recovery period rather than one impressive opener.
These examples describe the pinned client baseline. Learned talents, buffs, attack type and actual encounter change the useful result; they are not universal stat weights. Spirit’s value must be compared through the full and casting regeneration your character reports, rather than a fixed Spirit-to-MP5 rule.
| Comparison | Meaning |
|---|---|
| +10 Intellect | +150 mana if existing effective Intellect is at least 20, before further modifiers; about +0.366 percentage points of spell crit at level 30. |
| +7 Intellect from 19 | The first-20 breakpoint gives +91 mana, not +105. |
| Spell/healing power | Compare the affected spell or heal and learned rank; the coefficient and useful outcome differ. |

Questing and group play
A solo Fire Mage needs room and a control response when a cast fails or an add arrives. Start with manageable targets and compare total fight-plus-drink time. In groups, plan vulnerability duties with other casters and avoid opening so hard that an enemy abandons the tank; reacting to a proc is still subordinate to safe positioning.

Choose useful equipment
Compare Fire and general spell damage with mana and useful crit in your learned talent package. A crit-dependent benefit is conditional, not a fixed multiplier on every cast. A wand can finish a low-health solo enemy without making spell-power equipment improve its damage.

Item, racial and other auxiliary management remains in the full report, and execute-phase percentages are encounter settings rather than proc chances.
