WoW Forever · Spell damage
Elemental Shaman
Elemental spends mana on Nature and Fire attacks while choosing totems and utility for the encounter. Lightning Bolt is a repeatable cast; a Shock can serve a different damage or interrupt job. Choose the spell that solves the moment rather than assuming every available cast belongs in one fixed burst sequence.
Current beta play is capped at level 30. Level 60 reference models and deeper talents are identified as later planning. Client descriptions and server updates can differ.
In this guide
What this build asks you to do
Elemental Focus can prepare a Clearcasting state from an eligible damage cast, reducing the cost of the next damage spell. Notice the proc before choosing the follow-up; it is not permanent free casting. Later Lava Burst benefits from Flame Shock already on the target in the published Forever description. Do not replace that rule with the old assumption that every Flame Shock setup guarantees a critical Lava Burst.
- A proc can create an efficient follow-up while totems add utility.
- Movement, interruptions and mana determine usable output; a future damage model is not a levelling guarantee.

Choose the next action
- Open from a safe casting position and choose a learned Lightning Bolt or other damage spell that suits the target. Use a Shock for its useful damage or interrupt job rather than assuming it is always the next burst button.
- Notice Elemental Focus’s eligible Clearcasting preparation. Spend the prepared reduction on a useful following damage spell; it is not permanently free casting.
- Choose totems for the party and pull. An enemy or group moving away can make the original position poor, so consider the actual range before paying to place another support effect.
- Keep mana and a quick utility response available. A timely interrupt can improve the pull more than another completed damage cast.
- Later Lava Burst has its stated Flame Shock relationship. Do not replace it with the old claim that every Flame Shock setup guarantees a critical Lava Burst.

A damage proc prepares one efficient follow-up
Click through an illustrative sequence. Conditional effects require the named spells and talents; this is not a damage, resource, threat or timing simulation.
- Cast an eligible damage spell: Use a learned Lightning Bolt; a Clearcasting trigger is conditional.
- Notice Clearcasting: With Elemental Focus learned, this example shows its proc state.
- Choose the next damage spell: Use the benefit on a useful eligible damage spell, not on an invented permanently free sequence.
- Recheck mana and utility: A control or totem decision may be more useful than continuing to cast at a poor target.

Build the toolkit
Learn the Shocks and damage ranks you actually use, retaining a cheap interrupt option when its effect is sufficient. Elemental Focus is a talent interaction; deep Lava Burst planning does not make the spell available to a current level 30 character.

|---|---|---|
| 20 | Elemental Focus is an ordinary talent-row option. | Current beta |
| 30 | Lightning Overload becomes a talent-row option. | Current beta |

Understand the upgrade
Compare the spells you actually cast and the recovery needed to repeat the pull.
Intellect supports the mana pool; specific damage or recovery relationships apply only through learned effects.
These examples describe the pinned client baseline. Learned talents, buffs, attack type and actual encounter change the useful result; they are not universal stat weights. Spirit’s value must be compared through the full and casting regeneration your character reports, rather than a fixed Spirit-to-MP5 rule.
| Comparison | Meaning |
|---|---|
| +10 Intellect | +150 mana if existing effective Intellect is at least 20, before further modifiers; about +0.355 percentage points of spell crit at level 30. |
| +7 Intellect from 19 | The first-20 breakpoint gives +91 mana, not +105. |
| Spell/healing power | Compare the affected spell or heal and learned rank; the coefficient and useful outcome differ. |

Questing and group play
Solo Elemental needs both a damage plan and recovery after the pull. Start with targets that allow safe casts and use control when the enemy arrives. In groups, support with useful totems and interrupts while respecting the tank’s target; a one-target stationary model does not represent a moving dungeon pack.

Choose useful equipment
Compare affected Nature/Fire or general spell damage with Intellect and sustainable casting. A melee weapon’s larger ordinary hit is a different upgrade from the spell you cast at range. Armor and health can matter when the solo enemy reaches you even if the reference ignores travel and movement.
