WoW Forever · Spell damage
Arcane Mage
Arcane makes the next cast’s cost part of the damage decision. Arcane Blast raises its own mana cost while granting a benefit to other spells. Chaining it forever is not the only interpretation of the talent: you can build the effect and then choose a different cast that uses the benefit.
Current beta play is capped at level 30. Level 60 reference models and deeper talents are identified as later planning. Client descriptions and server updates can differ.
In this guide
What this build asks you to do
Presence of Mind offers a planned instant eligible spell, while deeper Arcane Power adds damage at an increased mana cost. Decide whether the target and encounter justify that expenditure. A stationary damage example says little about travel, interruptions or how much drinking follows the pull. Mana management is an active part of the spec, not a correction applied after its damage is measured.
- A stack-building spell can support a deliberate follow-up cast.
- Repeated Arcane Blast becomes more expensive; burst and endurance pull in different directions.

Choose the next action
- Begin with enough safe casting time and mana for the pull. Arcane Blast changes its own cost and the benefit available to other spells, so watch the effect before deciding to repeat it.
- If another damage spell is the useful follow-up, cast it with the prepared benefit and then clear the Arcane Blast state. That benefit does not remain forever after the consuming cast.
- Use Presence of Mind on an eligible spell whose instant cast solves a real movement or damage need. Do not spend it on a cast that would have finished safely anyway.
- A deeper Arcane Power window increases expenditure as well as damage. Reserve enough mana for the remaining fight instead of judging the window by the first large hit.
- When the target will not survive another long cast, use a learned finisher or control option that actually saves time. Travel, interrupted casts and drinking are absent from the stationary reference.

Arcane Blast changes the next decision
Click through an illustrative sequence. Conditional effects require the named spells and talents; this is not a damage, resource, threat or timing simulation.
- Cast Arcane Blast: With the talent learned, begin its stacking effect.
- Repeat only if useful: Another Blast raises its own cost; this diagram does not assign a mana percentage.
- Choose another spell: A different damage spell uses the described benefit and ends the stacked Arcane Blast effect.
- Reassess the budget: Decide whether to rebuild, switch tactics or recover; a long chain is a choice, not a universal rotation.

Understand the upgrade
Compare damage per usable cast and the cost of sustaining stacks; the mana pool alone does not rank the rotation.
Above 20 existing effective Intellect, +10 adds 150 baseline display mana; lower totals cross a different breakpoint.
These examples describe the pinned client baseline. Learned talents, buffs, attack type and actual encounter change the useful result; they are not universal stat weights. Spirit’s value must be compared through the full and casting regeneration your character reports, rather than a fixed Spirit-to-MP5 rule.
| Comparison | Meaning |
|---|---|
| +10 Intellect | +150 mana if existing effective Intellect is at least 20, before further modifiers; about +0.366 percentage points of spell crit at level 30. |
| +7 Intellect from 19 | The first-20 breakpoint gives +91 mana, not +105. |
| Spell/healing power | Compare the affected spell or heal and learned rank; the coefficient and useful outcome differ. |

Questing and group play
Solo Arcane needs a plan for enemies that reach you and for the recovery after each pull. Use the class’s learned control rather than expecting a damage talent to create space. In a group, preserve casts by standing safely and switching targets deliberately; an impressive opening is less useful if it exhausts the mana needed for the next pack.

Choose useful equipment
Spell damage changes affected casts, while Intellect supports mana capacity and spell crit. Compare an item against the sequence you actually cast, including the increasing Blast cost. A level 5 wand can be a budget solo option, but the September update removes spell-power scaling from wand attacks.
