WoW Forever · Ranged damage
Marksmanship Hunter
Marksmanship centres the Hunter’s own shots. Maintain a firing position, choose a useful sting and spend mana on the shots that make sense for the target’s remaining health. Aimed Shot is a baseline Forever milestone rather than an obligation to copy an old talent route.
Current beta play is capped at level 30. Level 60 reference models and deeper talents are identified as later planning. Client descriptions and server updates can differ.

What this build asks you to do
Trueshot Aura supports ranged attack power. Scatter Shot is a control decision: it turns off your attack and its disorientation breaks on damage. That makes it a chance to reposition, not simply a damage button inserted into an uninterrupted firing sequence. Later Sniper Shot changes the range of following shots; it does not remove the need to respect positioning.
- The tree emphasises personal ranged pressure and party support.
- Control can deliberately pause damage; shot costs and movement still matter.

Choose the next action
- Open from a firing position with room to respond if the enemy reaches you. Choose a sting only when its remaining effect will be useful; a nearly defeated target may simply need a finishing shot.
- Use the learned shot toolkit and react to mana, movement and the next enemy. Aimed Shot is baseline Forever learning, not a reason to spend an old Classic talent point for access.
- Trueshot Aura and the tree’s shot talents support the Hunter’s own ranged package. Compare them with the pet contribution you sacrifice in a different allocation.
- Scatter Shot deliberately stops your attack and creates a disorientation that damage can break. Reposition first; immediately resuming damage throws away the control opportunity.
- The saved Marksmanship reference uses Lone Wolf rather than a pet. Do not copy its shot-only result into a pet-assisted levelling pull without changing the comparison.

Scatter Shot creates a deliberate pause
Click through an illustrative sequence. Conditional effects require the named spells and talents; this is not a damage, resource, threat or timing simulation.
- Use Scatter Shot: When learned, disorient the enemy; the ability also turns off your attack.
- Do not break the control: Avoid another damaging action while using the pause to gain space.
- Reposition for shots: Move into a useful firing position; control is not a guarantee against every enemy.
- Resume damage deliberately: Resume shooting when ready. Damage ends the illustrated disorientation.

Understand the upgrade
Compare your ranged weapon and personal shot inputs; melee AP is not interchangeable with ranged AP.
Mana determines repeatable shot use, while Agility’s crit contribution is level-dependent.
These examples isolate attribute relationships. They are not a prediction of full ability DPS, threat, pet damage or survivability.
| Comparison | Meaning |
|---|---|
| +10 Agility | +10 baseline melee AP and +20 ranged AP; about +0.417 percentage points of weapon crit at level 30, before talents. |
| Weapon context | A bow/gun upgrade and a melee-weapon upgrade affect different attacks. |
| Survival or reserve | A damage stat does not replace the health and resource reserve needed to finish the pull. |

Questing and group play
A pet can still make ordinary solo questing comfortable when your chosen allocation permits it. A Lone Wolf model is a different setup, so decide which job the pet is doing before comparing damage. In groups, plan range and target changes with the tank; Scatter is useful control only when teammates understand that damage will break it.

Choose useful equipment
Compare bow or gun damage, ranged attack power and useful crit with enough mana to sustain your chosen shots. A larger physical weapon hit and an extra spell cast are different upgrades. Do not replace a strong ranged weapon solely because a melee stat item has a higher item level.
