WoW Forever · Ranged damage and pet
Beast Mastery Hunter
Beast Mastery gives the pet a larger share of the job. Send it to the chosen enemy, keep your own ranged position and watch its condition while shooting. The point is coordination: a pet attacking the wrong target can undo an otherwise careful pull, and extra damage does not make it a perfect tank.
Current beta play is capped at level 30. Level 60 reference models and deeper talents are identified as later planning. Client descriptions and server updates can differ.
In this guide
What this build asks you to do
Intimidation attaches a stun to the pet’s next successful attack. Summon Hawk is a separate talent choice, with a reported shared cooldown interaction with Arcane Shot. Decide which action you are asking the pet to perform instead of treating every available button as an independent extra attack. Recall it when the pull changes or the enemy dies.
- A controlled pet pull creates room for ranged attacks.
- Pet position, health and commands remain part of the workload.

Choose the next action
- Before the pull, check the active pet’s health, abilities and target. Send it to one chosen enemy rather than trusting an aggressive stance to choose the whole fight.
- Establish your own ranged position and use learned shots while the pet works. Watch an enemy changing target; pet damage is not a guarantee that you can ignore threat or distance.
- Intimidation prepares the pet’s next successful attack to stun. A missed or otherwise unsuccessful attack is not the trigger, and clicking the talent is not itself the completed stun.
- Summon Hawk and Arcane Shot have a reported shared interaction. Choose the useful action instead of counting both as unrelated extra attacks.
- Recall or redirect the pet when the enemy dies, an add arrives or the group moves. Mend or recover it when needed; continuing to shoot while the pet fails can turn a simple pull into melee trouble.

Intimidation waits for the pet to connect
Click through an illustrative sequence. Conditional effects require the named spells and talents; this is not a damage, resource, threat or timing simulation.
- Send the pet: Choose one enemy and send the pet; do not claim that every enemy now belongs to it.
- Prepare Intimidation: When learned, the stun waits for the pet’s next successful attack.
- Successful attack triggers it: In this example the pet connects and the pending stun occurs; a failed attack is not the same event.
- Recall when needed: Bring the pet back if the pull changes; the command changes its position rather than predicting threat.

Build the toolkit
Complete the level 10 pet introduction before relying on taming or pet talents. Aimed Shot is a level 20 baseline milestone in Forever. Keep pet abilities trained for the pet you actually use; current taming restrictions and learned abilities still apply.

|---|---|---|
| 10 | Complete the actual taming introduction before expecting a permanent pet. | Current beta |
| 25 | Summon Hawk is a talent-row choice. | Current beta |

Understand the upgrade
Baseline +10 Agility gives a Hunter +20 ranged AP and +20 Armor; crit still depends on level.
A player stat comparison does not automatically describe every pet ability or learned pet talent.
These examples isolate attribute relationships. They are not a prediction of full ability DPS, threat, pet damage or survivability.
| Comparison | Meaning |
|---|---|
| +10 Agility | +10 baseline melee AP and +20 ranged AP; about +0.417 percentage points of weapon crit at level 30, before talents. |
| Weapon context | A bow/gun upgrade and a melee-weapon upgrade affect different attacks. |
| Survival or reserve | A damage stat does not replace the health and resource reserve needed to finish the pull. |

Questing and group play
A fresh Hunter has a separate pre-pet stage before the taming introduction. Afterward, practice the send, shoot and recall sequence on ordinary enemies. In dungeons, keep the pet with the tank’s targets and control its route around extra packs; dismissing or recalling deliberately is better than letting it choose a dangerous shortcut.

Choose useful equipment
Ranged damage and Agility support your own attacks, while pet talents change the pet’s contribution separately. A melee weapon’s Strength does not improve the bow’s listed damage in the same way as a ranged weapon upgrade. Compare your actual ranged weapon first, then health and mana needed to keep the pet-and-shot plan working.
