Bear Druid

Bear is a Rage tanking role with a different priority from Cat. Bring enemies into a controlled position, identify which target needs attention and spend Rage on the learned attacks that support that job. Damage, control and surviving the next hit are related decisions, but they are not the same measurement.

Current beta play is capped at level 30. Level 60 reference models and deeper talents are identified as later planning. Client descriptions and server updates can differ.

What this build asks you to do

Primal Bite is a high-threat attack. Blood Frenzy attaches additional Rage to a qualifying Bear critical event when learned; Natural Reaction later connects Rage to dodge events. Track the event that actually occurred rather than adding both benefits to every swing. The dated October known issue says Faerie Fire does not produce threat, so its debuff is not treated here as a proven threat opener.

  • A dedicated form supports tanking decisions and reactive resource events.
  • A damage model does not establish threat control or survival, and crit/dodge triggers are conditional.

Choose the next action

  • Start with a controlled pull in Bear and a clear view of enemies threatening the group. Choose a Rage action for the target that needs attention rather than simply attacking whatever is nearest.
  • Use Primal Bite when learned and useful for the tanking job. Its high-threat purpose does not make every other enemy automatically controlled.
  • Notice qualifying Bear critical events for Blood Frenzy and later dodge events for Natural Reaction. These are different triggers; do not add both returns to every attack.
  • Use defensive or recovery support when incoming damage demands it. Enough damage to top a reference table is not proof the next pull is survivable.
  • Treat the October Faerie Fire threat issue as a limitation: a debuff application is not presented as a verified threat opener. Secure the enemy with the actual tools available.

A Bear critical event can generate a resource choice

Click through an illustrative sequence. Conditional effects require the named spells and talents; this is not a damage, resource, threat or timing simulation.

  • Use the Bear context: Begin in Bear with Rage-based learned attacks, not Cat Combo Points.
  • A critical event occurs: This example shows a qualifying Bear critical strike; ordinary attacks do not all qualify.
  • Blood Frenzy adds recovery: When learned at the relevant rank, its conditional Rage gain follows that event.
  • Choose Primal Bite: Spend usable Rage on the learned high-threat attack where it serves the pull. Threat amount is not calculated.

    Understand the upgrade

Compare the actual form’s health and mitigation; attribute totals alone do not predict a survivable pull.

Attack and defensive outcomes can affect Rage decisions, but their proc rates are not inferred from a gear score.

These examples isolate attribute relationships. They are not a prediction of full ability DPS, threat, pet damage or survivability.

    Understand the upgrade
    Comparison Meaning
+7 Strength +14 baseline melee AP before modifiers; form damage still follows its own rules.
+10 Agility About +0.891 percentage points of weapon crit at level 30; Cat’s documented branch also adds +10 AP.
Weapon upgrade Forever forms use weapon-related inputs; AP / 14 is not a complete Cat or Bear damage formula.

    Questing and group play

Bear can be useful during solo difficult encounters and as a party tank, but safe pull size depends on the actual enemies and group. Bring loose enemies back into a manageable position and communicate recovery pauses. Cat damage choices are an alternate job, not a reason to leave the tanking role while the group still needs control.

    Choose useful equipment

Compare health, armor and form-relevant weapon contribution with the damage stats sacrificed. A Cat item can improve one attack package while providing too little defense for a Bear pull. The saved Bear reference measures damage while attacked and cannot rank threat or safe survival.

Night Elf; saved 0/41/10 talent split; level 60; 10,000 iterations; one level 63 target; nominal 120 seconds with ±15 seconds variation.
