Cat Druid

Cat turns Energy into Combo Point builders and then chooses a finisher for the target’s lifetime. A bleed is useful only when the target lives long enough; a positional attack needs the correct position. The October update removes the old Tiger’s Fury assumption, so do not import a Classic powershifting routine unchanged.

Current beta play is capped at level 30. Level 60 reference models and deeper talents are identified as later planning. Client descriptions and server updates can differ.

What this build asks you to do

Shifting Power explicitly exchanges mana for Energy when learned. That makes mana a reserve for the Cat plan, not an unlimited refill. The amount and cooldown depend on the current spell and talents. Keep enough mana to leave Cat, heal or respond to a new situation. Position behind enemies where useful, while remembering the beta’s dated close-range parry/block issue rather than promising immunity to those outcomes.

  • Builders, bleeds and a mana-to-Energy decision create an active melee loop.
  • Position, target lifetime and the mana reserve can limit the sequence.

Choose the next action

  • Begin in the learned Cat context and choose an enemy you can remain in contact with. Build Combo Points with learned Claw or Rake; use Shred only when its position requirement is satisfied.
  • Spend on learned Rip when the target will survive useful bleed ticks, or Ferocious Bite for an immediate finish. Refreshing a long bleed on an enemy about to die can waste the opportunity for an immediate finish.
  • With Shifting Power learned, exchange mana for Energy only when the next Cat action is useful. It is not a free refill and does not itself replace your Cat form.
  • Preserve a mana reserve for healing, leaving the form or another unexpected need. The October removal of Tiger’s Fury means an old Classic powershifting routine cannot be imported unchanged.
  • The saved Cat report uses a custom rotation and records an item activation. Its conditions must be read as that preset’s choices, not a universal instruction to activate the same item on every quest pull.

Mana can become Energy, but it is still a cost

Click through an illustrative sequence. Conditional effects require the named spells and talents; this is not a damage, resource, threat or timing simulation.

  • Use Shifting Power: When learned, the spell spends mana to obtain Energy; it does not replace your Cat form.
  • Use a learned Cat builder: Spend Energy on a builder that fits your position and target.
  • Choose a useful finisher: Spend the illustrated points on a learned finisher appropriate to the target’s remaining life.
  • Keep a mana reserve: A later heal or form change may need mana; this is a budget decision, not a healing cast.

    Understand the upgrade

Cat’s Agility-to-AP branch is distinct from the baseline class conversion; compare the actual form display.

Use form-specific evidence when comparing weapon upgrades, not an ordinary AP-per-swing estimate as total Cat DPS.

These examples isolate attribute relationships. They are not a prediction of full ability DPS, threat, pet damage or survivability.

    Understand the upgrade
    Comparison Meaning
+7 Strength +14 baseline melee AP before modifiers; form damage still follows its own rules.
+10 Agility About +0.891 percentage points of weapon crit at level 30; Cat’s documented branch also adds +10 AP.
Weapon upgrade Forever forms use weapon-related inputs; AP / 14 is not a complete Cat or Bear damage formula.

    Questing and group play

For solo Cat, compare how quickly enemies die and how much recovery follows. Position behind an enemy when useful, while keeping the dated close-range parry/block issue in mind. In a group, let the tank establish the pull and avoid moving into a second pack while pursuing a positional builder.

    Choose useful equipment

Compare the weapon’s form-relevant contribution with Strength, Agility and enough health/mana to finish safely. The documented Cat Agility-to-AP branch is separate from Bear and caster contexts. A normal weapon AP / 14 calculation is not a full Cat ability-DPS model.
