Restoration Druid

Use periodic and direct healing deliberately, preserve recovery windows and compare actual healing ranks and gear.

WoW Forever beta Client 1.60.1.70205 Checked 2026-10-04

Current beta cap: level 30. Advice assumes ordinary talent points without Legacy bonuses. Deeper talents and later abilities are identified separately.

Restoration rewards anticipating damage and letting useful healing over time do its work. A good decision can be a direct heal, an instant response, a dispel or a pause to recover. This guide covers the current early-level healer and separates mana capacity, regeneration and healing output.

Heal the damage that is about to matter

Restoration combines direct heals with healing over time. Keep the group stable through the next damage. A tank taking heavy hits needs a different response from a safe damage dealer whose health can recover gradually.

Tell the group when you need mana. Stay in healing range with a clear view of the tank and avoid unnecessary incoming damage. Your flexibility is useful, but the group needs a reliable healing plan while you are its healer.

Choose direct healing, periodic healing or recovery

Rejuvenation is an instant heal over time. Apply it when the target will benefit from the upcoming ticks; immediately refreshing it on a nearly full target can spend mana without adding useful healing. Regrowth combines a casted initial heal with a longer periodic effect. Healing Touch is the direct-heal option when a cast can finish safely.

Do not wait for a fixed low-health percentage regardless of the encounter. Judge the health the target will have when your cast lands, the damage still arriving and any healing already active. When the tank is dropping quickly, periodic healing alone may not arrive in time.

Once Swiftmend is talented, it gives an instant response to a target with Rejuvenation or Regrowth active. The current design preserves that periodic effect. Use the existing effect to support the response instead of following old advice that assumes Swiftmend consumes it.

  • Before a pull: enough mana, tank in range and the appropriate learned ranks ready.
  • During steady damage: allow useful periodic ticks while watching the next hit.
  • During a spike: begin a direct response early, or use a learned instant tool when waiting is unsafe.
  • After danger passes: stop unnecessary healing and recover before the next pull.

Early healer spell milestones

The current client lists Healing Touch at level 1, Rejuvenation at 4, and first Regrowth and Revive at 12. Revive is an out-of-combat resurrection. Check learned ranks and acquisition rather than assuming every level field means the trainer has already taught the spell.

Cure Poison has a class-quest route in beta-author guidance. Follow the quest available to your race and check the result in your spellbook; no one identical faction or racial quest chain is assumed. Keep an adequate direct-heal rank and recovery options available before spending gold on abilities irrelevant to your current healer role.

Compare the talent’s effect with your healing pattern

Reflection has current client ranks of 17/33/50% for mana regeneration continuing while casting. That is a retention modifier, not a fixed amount of MP5 from each Spirit point. Compare the ranks you have with the time you spend making mana-consuming casts.

Nature’s Splendor extends Rejuvenation by 3 seconds and Regrowth by 6 seconds. That rewards targets who need the additional ticks; it does not require refreshing those spells on everyone. If you choose Balance talents to help solo play, check each spell covered: Moonglow reduces damaging-spell mana costs and no longer reduces healing costs.

A level-20 author build that reaches Swiftmend with extra Legacy talent points is a different plan from a fresh character using ordinary points. Use the calculator with your actual points and prerequisites. Wild Growth is a deeper 31-point talent and belongs to later planning beyond today’s ordinary level-30 build.

Recovery is part of the healing plan

When the group is stable, an unnecessary heal spends mana and can delay recovery. Being in combat and spending mana are different conditions. Spirit’s regeneration value depends on class, level and spending conditions; compare the full and casting regeneration your character reports.

Omen of Clarity can grant Clearcasting from spells and attacks. Use a proc on an eligible heal that the group needs; Wrath does not consume it. The proc does not justify moving into danger or landing needless overhealing just to spend it.

Compare spell ranks by useful healing landed, cast time and mana spent. The October 1 notes warn that spells far below your level get less benefit from healing or spell bonuses and reduced activation chances for class effects. A very low rank is not automatically the best mana-efficient choice. Use the mana-efficiency tool with your actual rank and observed useful healing.

Separate capacity, crit, healing and regeneration

At level 30, +10 effective Intellect contributes about 0.352 percentage point of baseline eligible spell crit. It adds 150 mana when your existing effective Intellect is at least 20. That is extra capacity, not an in-combat regeneration rate.

For an early-level comparison, moving from 19 to 26 effective Intellect adds 91 mana: 1 point below the breakpoint, then 6 × 15 above it. Healing power changes eligible heal output through that spell’s own rules. Spirit affects regeneration under class, level and spending conditions; it is not healing power.

If casts land mostly as overhealing, better timing may help more than output. If you repeatedly stop for mana while the group remains safe, examine capacity, recovery and spell choice.

Keep a healing set and compare the actual modifiers

Living Root is a concrete level-18 weapon example listed for Wailing Caverns by the current healer author. Its tooltip has up to 45 healing and up to 15 magical damage, plus 2 Stamina and 5 Spirit. The healing and damage values are different; neither is a flat amount added to every spell.

Keep useful healing and mana equipment when you level in a damage setup. Compare a staff with the complete one-hand and off-hand combination you could equip, and include the cost or route of obtaining both pieces. A faction-restricted quest reward is only useful if your character can complete that source.

Players asking about hybrid Druid roles often focus on talent splits. Add the equipment question: what changes when you agree to heal? Check mana, eligible healing bonuses, learned spell ranks and whether your present points support the group’s needs before calling a damage set ready for healing.

Sources & scope

Use current learned ranks and class quests; native levels and talent level-1 fields do not prove acquisition.

Swiftmend needs an eligible active periodic heal and sufficient talent investment; no Legacy bonus points are assumed.

Reflection rank percentages are not a universal Spirit-to-MP5 conversion.

Very low spell ranks have changed bonus and proc behavior; no universal downranking rule is applied.

Wild Growth is a deeper later-build tool, and no current raid gear or final healing ranking is assumed.

Restoration · decisions and mechanics

Current beta play is capped at level 30. Level 60 reference models and deeper talents are identified as later planning. Client descriptions and server updates can differ.

Choose the next action

  • Choose periodic recovery when the ally has time to benefit, and a direct heal when waiting would be unsafe. Rejuvenation and Regrowth are different shapes rather than mandatory effects on every target.
  • Use Swiftmend on a target with its required periodic effect when immediate recovery is useful. Forever’s described interaction preserves that effect instead of consuming it.
  • After Swiftmend, let the useful periodic recovery continue. Recasting the same effect merely because a direct heal was used can spend mana without solving a new deficit.
  • With Nature’s Swiftness learned, reserve the eligible instant response for a genuine emergency or casting-window problem. Having it available does not make every heal instant.
  • Later Wild Growth adds a group-healing choice with its own range and target context. An isolated injured player may still need a direct response rather than a group-sized spell.

  • The periodic effect remains: The described Forever interaction preserves the periodic heal rather than consuming it.
  • Choose the next actual need: Heal another need or conserve mana; preserved recovery does not require immediately recasting the same effect.
